Why Read Talk Play?
Read, Play, Talk is Mesquite ISD's early childhood initiative, created to help families build strong foundations for learning from birth. Research shows that the first years of life are critical for brain development, and simple everyday interactions—reading together, playing together, and talking together—help children develop the language, literacy, and social-emotional skills needed for success in school and beyond.
Through family programs, community resources, and partnerships across Mesquite, Read, Play, Talk empowers parents and caregivers to support their child's growth during the years that matter most.

LENA Start
An 8-week education program for parents with children under age 3. Learn how talking more with your baby aids brain development for future success.
Little Readers
Little Readers is a free, early-literacy program for families with children (birth-5), offering fun learning activites at MISD elementary schools.
Little Free Library
The purpose of MISD Little Free Libraries is to inspire reading, build community, & ensure books are easily available to everyone.
Community Events
We host several community events each year to provide safe and fun environments for families to read, play, and talk together.
